Brian Larson joined the company in April 2019 when he was appointed as the company's first Director of Oil and Gas Development. Since joining, Brian has built a team which has deployed more than $20 million, acquiring mineral and royalty interests across multiple top-tier basins.

A native of Naperville, Illinois, Brian came to North American from Pioneer Natural Resources, an onshore U.S.-based independent oil and gas exploration and production company, where he held a variety of engineering and leadership positions in the corporate office and in the field.

Brian has experience in strategic planning, field development, reservoir engineering, facilities and production operations. Most recently, he led overall logistics and integrated operations planning for a multi-year project to optimize development in the Permian Basin.

Brian was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army and the Texas National Guard. He served at Fort Benning, GA, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Myer, VA, and Arlington National Cemetery, and deployed to Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His roles included Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, and Presidential Salute Battery Commander, where he led an elite team of 50 soldiers in “The Old Guard,” performing ceremonial and tactical operations in the Washington, D.C. area. Brian’s awards and certifications include the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge and Ranger Tab.

Brian is a 2005 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations. He holds a Master of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Baylor University.
